Tongues as evidence of Spirit baptism?
Churches disagree hard. I want Scripture, not a fight in the comments. How have you studied this?

Faithful Christians disagree on Spirit baptism and gifts. Hold your view with humility. Pursue love. Don't make a secondary issue the test of salvation. 1 Corinthians 12:11 — the Spirit apportions to each one individually as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:30 — do all speak with tongues? (implies no).

The 'do all speak?' question is one I had skipped. Helpful.

1 Corinthians 14 regulates tongues in gathered worship — intelligibility and order matter. Chaos isn't proof of anointing.

Galatians 5:22-23 — fruit of the Spirit is the clear evidence of His work in character. Don't ignore fruit while chasing a particular gift.

Those who speak in tongues shouldn't despise those who don't; those who don't shouldn't mock those who do. Romans 14 posture.

Seek the Giver more than a gift. Luke 11:13 — the Father gives the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.

Acts shows tongues at key expansions of the gospel; it doesn't hand us a universal law that every believer must. Read Acts 2; 10; 19 in context.

If your church requires tongues for membership identity, ask whether Scripture requires that. Keep the conversation gentle.
