Church hurt heals slow. Name what happened without exaggeration. Find a safer gathering (even another church). Don't baptise bitterness and call it discernment. Jesus stayed faithful when people failed you. Psalm 34:18; Hebrews 10:24-25 — we still need one another.

Cynicism feels like wisdom but it's often unhealed grief wearing armour. Bring the grief to God (Psalm 55:12-14 hits close when betrayal is from a companion).

Give yourself permission to move slowly: sit near exits, leave early, don't join teams yet.

Pray for those who hurt you when you can — not to excuse them, but to free your chest (Luke 6:28).

If abuse happened, seek outside accountability — denomination leaders, counsellors — not only 'forgive and stay quiet.'

A gentle church that opens the Bible repaired what hype damaged. Look for Word + ordinary kindness.
