How do I stop gossiping when it feels like concern?

At fellowship we share 'prayer requests' that include everyone's private business. I've joined in. How do I change without sounding self-righteous?

Before speaking, ask whether the person would feel protected by your words and whether you have permission to share. Repent where you've spread harm, redirect gently, take real concerns to God or the right person. Proverbs 11:13; Ephesians 4:29.

Curiosity isn't compassion. Silence can be love.

Confess to someone you gossiped about if it will heal rather than inflame.

Pray more; narrate less.

Leaders should model discreet care — ask yours to set a culture.

Try: 'Let's pray without extra details we don't need.' Soft redirect.
