Is it okay for Christians to drink alcohol?
At a wedding I declined wine and someone said I was judging them. Another friend says one drink is always compromise. I have family addiction history, so this feels personal.

Drunkenness destroys families — take that seriously without inventing extra laws (Proverbs 23:29-35).

Scripture forbids drunkenness, not every use of wine (Ephesians 5:18; John 2). Love may lead some to abstain completely. With addiction history, abstinence can be wise freedom rather than fear (Romans 14:21).

If you can't stop at one, you shouldn't start. Honesty beats image.

Your 'no' doesn't need a sermon. A calm 'I don't drink' is enough.

Church cultures that push alcohol as maturity are as off as cultures that equate grape juice with salvation.

Don't let drinkers shame abstainers, or abstainers excommunicate drinkers over a glass at a wedding. Romans 14 cuts both ways.
