Age-appropriate honesty: world broken by sin, God good and grieving evil, Jesus entered suffering, He will make things new. Invite their questions. It's ok to say "I don't know fully."

Yes. Faithfulness can be a text, a prayer, showing up seated, giving what you can. God isn't disappointed by weakness that still loves Him (2 Cor 12).
