Prayer feels empty
I sit there and nothing. Should I force longer prayers, use written ones, skip a day? Dry season tips please.

Tell two people you're in a dry season so they can carry you for a bit. Galatians 6:2 — bear one another's burdens. Solo dryness gets darker.
Force longer prayers only if you're hiding from God with busyness. Otherwise honesty over length. Matthew 6:7 warns against heaping empty phrases.
Romans 8:26 — the Spirit helps us in our weakness when we don't know what to pray. Dryness can be an invitation to depend, not a signal God left the room.
Romans 8:26 undid a lot of shame for me. I thought mature Christians always 'felt' prayer.
Try praying Scripture back: read a verse, turn it into a sentence. 'Lord, You are my shepherd — I'm acting like I have no shepherd today. Gather me.' (Psalm 23).
When it's dry I borrow words. Psalms. Lord's Prayer. Sometimes I just say 'help' and sit there. God isn't grading eloquence. Luke 18 — the persistent widow and the tax collector's short prayer — both count. Showing up still matters.
Walk and pray. Kneeling in a quiet room was making me sleep-pray. Motion helped my mind stay honest.
Don't skip the day out of spite at your feelings. Do shorten it without guilt: one Psalm prayed slowly beats twenty minutes of performance. Psalm 42 names dryness without quitting.
