Husband is depressed and I feel useless
He's a believer. Dark season. I don't want to nag or leave him alone either. Anyone walked this?

Ask him once a week, calmly: 'What feels supportive vs smothering right now?' Then believe the answer. James 1:19 — quick to hear.
You are not his Holy Spirit or his psychiatrist. Love him and loop in pastor + doctor. Proverbs 11:14 — safety in many advisers.
Protect your own soul too: sleep, a friend who can hear you without gossiping, Scripture that isn't only 'fix him' verses. You can't pour from an empty cup forever (1 Kings 19 — Elijah needed food and rest in despair).
I needed permission to not be the project manager of his healing. Thank you.
Be present. Pray with him, not only about him. Help with meals/errands. Encourage professional support. 'Just cheer up' is not ministry. Job's friends helped until they started explaining. Galatians 6:2 — bear one another's burdens. Psalm 34:18 — the Lord is near to the brokenhearted.
Depression lied to my husband that he was a burden. Your steady 'I'm not leaving' matters. Romans 12:12 — rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, constant in prayer.
Watch for suicidal talk — take it seriously, get emergency help. Faith is not a substitute for crisis care.
Small shared rituals helped us: evening tea, one Psalm aloud, short walk. Not magic — just tether lines.
