Praying and fasting or Prayer and fast?

I've come across both phrases, but I'm not sure which one is correct. Should it be praying and fasting or prayer and fast?

Can anyone please clarify?

I believe it's Praying and Fasting.

When you say Prayer and Fast, it sounds like one has to come before the other which shouldn't be. They're both meant to work together.
You pray while fasting.
