There is no doubt that the Bible is filled with secret things that are meant for we the Christians.
Jesus is the mediator of the new covenant.
Apart from the fact that John the Baptist was forerunner of Jesus, he was particularly chosen by God to bridge the gap of the Old Testament and the New Testament. (Luke 1 vs 79)
Though in the plan of God, it is not the perfect representation of what Jesus wants to do.
In the making of disciples, there is a need for something which John the Baptist lost completely.
Matthew 3 vs 3 - 6; This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’” John’s clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist. His food was locusts and wild honey. People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River.
John the Baptist stayed at a place to make people become saved, while Jesus went around pronouncing salvation on people.
Matthew 4 vs 23; Jesus went throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and healing every disease and sickness among the people.
This was the foundation of all that Jesus wanted to establish in discipleship.
It is someone in motion we follow. Then, it becomes an error to follow someone, though he might be spiritfilled but not in motion.
Matthew 4 vs 25; Large crowds from Galilee, the Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and the region across the Jordan followed him.
John the Baptist was not the perfect example for the new covenant of Jesus. No wonder some disciples of John left him to follow Jesus. When they saw a man who was walking, they followed Him.
John was spiritfilled. There is no doubt on that, but not in motion for the Lord.
A man can be on fire for God and not be in motion for God.
When a man is in motion for the Lord, such a man is always willing.
Matthew 8 vs 3 & 7; Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” Immediately, he was cleansed of his leprosy.
Jesus said to him, “Shall I come and heal him?
In the days of His power, God is not just looking for the spiritfilled, but the willing.
Willing in righteousness.
Willing in obedience.
Willing in wisdom.
Willing in faith.
Willing in love.
This is what God expects from us - WILLINGNESS.
Someone who is not willing can not make a good discipleship.
"I am willing" is the voice of those on motion for Christ.
The workers are few because many are on fire, but few are in motion.
This is not God's agenda.
Matthew 9 vs 35 - 38; Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
Even Jesus was able to do mighty things because He went through all the towns and villages.
It becomes an error to sit down and not move out. Thank God our Fathers understand this. We will also get it right.
The command of Jesus is not to stay. Many will stay and stray.
Matthew 28 vs 19 - 20; Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
