Writer guidelines

Spiritual Upbringing is a Christian question-and-answer forum where you can ask and answer questions to help each other grow in faith. Connect with Christians from around the world, share wisdom, and seek biblical advice. This is a place for discussion, not a blog.

In addition to the Q&A forum, we publish daily devotional articles on a section of our platform and distribute them via mail and other channels. To support this, we invite writers to apply and contribute.

Please review the following submission policies before applying to be a writer. These guidelines help maintain the integrity of our platform and ensure high-quality content for our readers.

All of these policies should be considered in addition to our standard Terms and Rules.

1. Content Ownership & Exclusivity

• All submitted articles must be 100% original and exclusive to Spiritual Upbringing.
• Once published, Spiritual Upbringing retains full rights to the content.
• Writers may not republish their articles elsewhere, including personal blogs or other websites.

2. Plagiarism & Copyright

• Articles must not contain plagiarized or copyright-infringing content.
• All Bible verses must be cited accurately using a recognized translation.
• Any external sources, quotes, or references must be properly credited.

3. Word Count & Formatting

• Articles should be between 800 and 2,500 words.
• Use clear headings and subheadings for readability.
• Break up long paragraphs into shorter ones for better readability.
• Use bullet points or numbered lists where appropriate.
• Use bold or italic text for emphasis, but sparingly.
• Avoid excessive capitalization and ensure proper punctuation.
• Ensure smooth transitions between sections for better flow.
• Proofread for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors before submission.

4. Editing & Revisions

• Submitted articles may be edited for clarity, grammar, and SEO optimization.
• Our editorial team reserves the right to request revisions before final approval.
• Writers may be asked to modify or expand on certain sections to meet content standards.

5. Payment & Compensation

• Writers will receive 20,000 Nigerian Naira per published article.
• Payments are processed within 3 business days after article approval.
• Any rejected article will not qualify for payment.

6. Code of Conduct

• All submissions must reflect Christian values and maintain a respectful tone.
• Writers should avoid controversial, political, or divisive topics unless approved.
• Content must be uplifting, encouraging, and in line with our mission.

7. Account & Activity Requirements

• Writers must have earned the contributor role to be eligible. Please learn more about user roles here.
• Any account found violating our policies may be suspended or removed.

8. Rejection & Resubmission

• If an article is rejected, feedback may be provided for improvement.
• Writers may resubmit a revised article after implementing suggested changes.
• Repeat violations of submission policies may result in permanent disqualification.
